BUSINESS PLAN AWARDS
 
LiveWIRE Brunei Business Awards organized specifically for young and enterprising people in Brunei Darussalam is designed to reward and recognized those who are outstanding in their Business planning and existing business operations. The LiveWIRE Brunei Business Awards programme is an integral part of LiveWIRE International Programme organised around the world.
 
TYPES OF AWARDS CATEGORIES:
The LiveWIRE Business Awards, have the following categories.
 
Category A – Business Plan
 
A1 – Upper Secondary School (Forms 4-5)*
A2 – Sixth Forms (Lower & Upper 6)*
A3 – Technical and Vocational (Colleges)*
A4 – Institutions of Higher Learning (UBD & ITB)*
A5 – LiveWIRE course participants
A6 – Open Category
 
*
Students from other private schools, institutions of higher learning or
  colleges are also invited to participate.
Category B – Business Start Up
 
B1 – Open Category ( Minimum 6 months – 3 years in Business)
B2 – LiveWIRE Brunei Special Awards* (Minimum 3 years in Business)

Applicable for previous LiveWIRE programme participants only.
 
RULES AND REGULATIONS
Entry Requirements
For all the categories of awards, participants must comply with the following requirements:
 
1.
Be a citizen of Negara Brunei Darussalam
2.
Permanent Residents can participate as a member of a team or as partner. However, 50% of team members must comprise of citizens of Brunei Darussalam.
3.
Each group or team entry is limited to a maximum of five(5) members only.
4.
Participant(s) must attach the original Awards Entry Forms together with the submission of Business plan.
5.
Participant(s) must also submit photocopies of Identity Cards, including those of team members or partners.
6.
Business Plan(s) that had previously won any awards or prizes in any previous competitions are not eligible for submission.
 
In addition to the entry requirements mentioned above, the following conditions shall be applicable to the respective categories:
 
Category A – Business Plan
 
  • Participants must be aged below 31 years old within the year ended 31st December 2007 – Applicable for Category A1-A4
  • The Business plan submitted must not have been used previously to start a business.
  • For Category A1 to A4, all participants must be full-time students of schools and other private educational institution(s) in Negara Brunei Darussalam.
  • Participants from A1 to A4, the entry forms must be endorsed and signed by the principals or teacher in charge of their respective schools or instituitions.
  • For Category A5, participants must have attended the LiveWIRE Brunei Training programme i.e. Bright Ideas (BI) or/and Become A Successful Owner Manager (BSOM) workshops.
  • Category A6 is for participants that do not fall into any of the above mentioned categories.
Category B – Business Start-Up Awards
  B1 – Open Category
 
  • Participants must have a legal business operating in Negara Brunei Darussalam.
  • The existing business must have been in operation or trading for six months or more.
  • Participants must be aged at least 31 years when the business started.
  • If the business is in a Partnership or Sendirian Berhad, 50% partners or directors must be citizens of Negara Brunei Darussalam.
  • Participants must enclose copies of their certificate of registration (Certificate 16 & 17), Lesen Rampaian (If Appropriate) and other relevant documents.
  B2 – LiveWIRE Special Award Category
 
  • Participants must have attended two or more of the LiveWIRE Brunei Business Programme and/or be a member of LiveWIRE Business Network.
  • The existing business must be in operations for a minimum of 3 years.
  • Participants are required to submit a Business Development Plan instead of the conventional Business Plan*.

  Business/Development Plan
 
  • The main body of the Business Plan Submitted must not be more than 30 pages of A4 size paper, excluding the appendices. Any other supporting data, information or documents must be placed in the appendices.
  • Participants are encouraged to use Arial Font of Minimum size 12 and line spacing of 1.5 for the plans.
 

JUDGING PROCESS

  1. Participants must be prepared to provide additional information or data upon request of the judges.
  2. Short-listed entrants shall be invited to make a presentation of their Business Plans in front of a panel of judges. A maximum of two representatives are allowed to make the presentations.
  3. For category B, the judges will be visiting the business premises of the short listed candidates.
  4. The judges reserve the rights to penalize and/or disqualify any entrants that do not meet the required standards and entry criteria.
  5. All decision made by the panel of judges are final.
 
PRIZES
 
All the entrants will receive a Certificates of Participation. All winners and runner-up will receive winning trophies, certificates of appreciation and cash prizes.

The cash prizes allocated for each Category are as follows:
 
  Category A  
  A1 – Winner: B$1,000 Runner-up (x2): B$500 each
  A2 – Winner: B$1,200 Runner-up (x2): B$600 each
  A3 – Winner: B$1,200 Runner-up (x2): B$600 each
  A4 – Winner: B$1,500 Runner-up (x2): B$750 each
  A5 – Winner: B$1,500 Runner-up (x2): B$750 each
  A6 – Winner: B$1,500 Runner-up (x2): B$750 each
     
  Category B  
  B1 - Winner : B$6,000.00 Runner-up (x2) : B$2,000.00
  B2 - Winner & Runner - up Overseas Skills enhancement programme
 
Judges reserve the rights not to award any prizes and/or reduce the amount of cash prizes if the business plan(s) submitted does not meet the required standards as set up by the judges.
